Really strong composition using DOF effectively to convey a mood with very minimal color and shape. Sharp work.

@GJC: You are very kind, thank you GJC.
gorgeous detail here! stunning light and composition -- i can feel the abandonment and dejected use here... excellent shadows! marvelous!

@dj.tigersprout: Your comments always so appreciated, thanks very much DJ.
Glad you had the keys to the car ;) Great colortoning and composition ... I really like photo's like this!
29 Jul 2008 5:58am
@Monique: No keys, there were no windows as you will see in tomorrow's image... so I stuck my head in for this shot... the owner looked on a fair way away, I couldn't make out if he was amused I was photographing it or annoyed, nonetheless, I was glad I could get a look inside! Thanks for your comments Monique!
wow what a nice abstract shot, great lines and colors.

@Erik: Thank you Erik, you comments are very much aprpeciated.
@Carlos Palma: Thanks Carlos, no not controlled, the only editing in this image was a nudge on the shadows from memory, this is natural light and pretty much how I shot it on the day... it was the afternoon sun coming through the side window, and reflections of green from the lawn it rested on. Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful composition and great, shallow DOF making an almost abstract picture. Very nice and strong driving evocation. Great work!

@Vincent Bertrand: Thank you Vincent, your kind comments are greatly appreciated!
Thought provoking, suggestive image. The angle is excellent portraying an image with a secret.

@Observing: Wow, thank you for such beautiful comments... I couldn't quite put my finger on what this image means to me... but there is something about it.... thank you for summing it up so well here, I really appreciate your comments.
It looks like the steering wheel of an old vehicle and I love your story about sticking your head in to get the shot while the owner stood watching you. He must have wondered what you were up to. Tee hee. You got a wonderful almost abstract picture. Great shot.

@Marion: You are so right Marion... this is my second image in the "old retired and abandoned truck" series (see the day prior, that was the eye of this old champion. More to come over the next couple of days. Yes I am sure he wondered what I was up to and I was wondering if he was coming over to speak to me... and in the middle of it all that little goat from earlier on in my portfolio popped up... it was a very interesting day! Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments Marion!
@Soco: Thank you Soco!

Questions arise. Though one answer appears to stand: whoever used to drive it doesn't do it any more.
29 Jul 2008 10:20am
@António Pires: no... the "truck driver" no longer drives it... but I have revealed ahead of the story. Thank you for your comments António :o)
A belt buckle I believe but not sure. Intriguing image, Kylie.
29 Jul 2008 10:49am
@Michael Skorulski: Thanks for visiting Michael, no the steering wheel of an old truck, you saw the eye (headlight) of it yesterday... more will be revealed in the next couple of days. Appreciate your comments as always.
You've turned this into a semi abstract image, and how good it looks. Great work, Kylie. I really like your choice in composition. The strong highlights and shadows add drama to this, too.

Abstract, 50 year old truck steering wheel, the subject angle from top left of pix to lower right creates movement. very nice pix

@Michael Rawluk: Thanks for visiting Michael, always an honour to have your comments here.
My favorite thing about this image is that it doesn’t tell much of the story, yet it makes me beckon for a story. Sets the imagination ablaze!
29 Jul 2008 9:28pm
@Andrew: Andrew, I like that you like that... as it was my intention to reveal part of the story each day. Thank you for your lovely comments and for stopping by, much appreciated!

@Siam: Ahh Siam, j'aime toujours recevoir vos commentaires.
i like this even better than the first. the elements seem to have stripped the wheel to its essential form, and you've isolated it perfectly.
30 Jul 2008 1:45am
i love this picture, its as if time is standing still.
30 Jul 2008 1:48am
You gave it a ghost-like quality that certainly fits your caption.
30 Jul 2008 2:37am
This image attracts attention already looking at the miniatures, has a very special light.
30 Jul 2008 2:52am
A simple, abstract capture of a pared-down steering wheel. The light off the steering wheel is perfect.
30 Jul 2008 3:35am
wonderful framing and lighting kylie.. i love it...
