Self Portrait ~ challenge

Hey my dear friends, sorry I have been away for longer than expected and for my very rushed effort to post for DJ and Isao's challenge today (it's the image on my about page) but time hasn't permitted me to play much with the camera (but lots of other exciting stuff happening).
Yes, my challenge is still on the 7th for those that have enquired, details below :o) Lovely to be back although it will be a little staggered, you knew I couldn't be away from you guys too long!
Next Challenge... "MY Special Place" Friday 7th November. Maybe it is the place you live, a room you love, a place you go... somewhere you love to be, a place that is "your space" that means something to you. (No toilets please :o)
Please also let me know any ideas you might have for future challenge topics.

HURRAY!!!! Firstly my friend, let me welcome you back to Am3!!! :) We have greatly missed you!!! But i hope your time away was relaxing, productive and wonderful!! Of course, we are certainly GLAD to have you back!!! And I just LOVE this pic -- having seen it on your 'about me' before -- but now it is SO much larger!! And the dynamic energy of this shot just comes out in full strength!!! Amazing shot, i love the glow from above and how it highlights beautifully the strands in your hair -- and then it is as if we are looking deep into a large, dark lens... the lens of your soul -- via the camera!! :) A magical shot by any means, brilliantly done!! i like the glow of ur hair here =) , ur rings (ur personanality), and ur rather intense one-eyed stare lol, striking.
sidenote: the last time i bought a camera right up to my face was in 2006, a friend's film camera. i was initially "where's the screen?!" lol.. then i bought it up - felt very foreign to me, having used LCD most of my photography years.
ur photo reminded me of this incident =) bringing the camera up felts more initimate - u prolly bond more with ur camera lol

I like this shot Kylie and I couldn't figure out quite why it grabbed me, however I think it is because your eye is open and looking right at the camera. This makes it just like a portrait would be. Well done.
